Job Summary
The Senior Accountant will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day accounting functions of Impact Africa Network and its portfolios. Reporting to the Finance Manager, the role ensures accurate and timely financial record-keeping, supports internal and external reporting, and helps maintain regulatory compliance. This position requires a deep understanding of accounting standards, strong analytical skills, and the ability to maintain effective financial controls in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate financial records and ensure all transactions are properly recorded in the accounting system.
- Prepare and analyse monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements by IFRS.
- Support budget preparation, monitoring, and variance analysis in collaboration with the Finance Manager and departmental leads.
- Prepare and process payroll, statutory deductions, accounts payable, and receivables.
- Reconcile bank statements, ledgers, and other balance sheet accounts regularly.
- Assist in the preparation and filing of tax returns and ensure compliance with local tax laws and regulatory requirements.
- Coordinate with internal and external auditors during audits and implement audit recommendations.
- Support international money transfers and currency exchange documentation, working with finance institutions as needed.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of effective financial policies, procedures, and controls.
- Mentor junior accounting staff and review their work to ensure accuracy and timeliness.
- Stay current with accounting best practices, financial regulations, and changes in tax laws.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field from a recognised institution.
- Professional qualification: CPA-K or ACCA (minimum level 2 certification required).
- Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in accounting, with at least 3 years in a senior or supervisory role
- Experience in preparing management accounts and financial statements.
- High proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks).
- Strong attention to detail, organisation, and problem-solving skills.
- Experience in a tech, startup, or nonprofit environment is an added advantage.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively across teams.

- Strong knowledge of accounting standards (IFRS), GAAP, Kenyan & Delaware tax regulations
